Overview

As a kid, I looked forward to seeing the elaborate holiday displays on New York’s Fifth Avenue every year and I would get lost in the worlds the artists created. With their flagship store around the corner from the Rockefeller Christmas Tree, Microsoft joins the holiday spirit and it was amazing to help imagine a little digital world like the ones I admired growing up.

The Microsoft flagship boasts a massive 800 sqft LED video wall that overlooks and illuminates Fifth Avenue. It is reserved exclusively for non-commercial content and is designed to feel like a digital extension of space rather than a flat display. With the Microsoft retail team, we wrote, designed and animated this whimsical holiday journey that takes us from New York to Sydney, their other retail headquarters. We named each character and tried to imbue them with our fondest memories of the holiday season, immortalizing those feelings to share with everyone walking the winter streets below.
